We’re all different. Disability Pride Month celebrates some of these differences, and Sworkit celebrates with you. Our goal is to honor the achievements, experiences, and struggles of the disabled community in our own way – by providing a diverse catalog of workouts to support those with different needs and abilities.
Be the healthiest and most confident version of yourself. Here are just a few ways we support your unique path.
Mobility Impairments
Our variety of seated workouts are awesome for people who use a wheelchair and people with other issues that might make standing for long periods difficult or impossible. We also provide gentle workouts that are easy on your joints and warmups to encourage you to stretch.
The app also allows you to modify and customize workouts to your needs, design your own, and share them with other users. If a particular exercise causes you problems, you can edit it or switch it for something else. You have total freedom to put together the workouts you need.
Visual Impairment
All of our workouts are accessible to the visually impaired. For example, turn on audio prompts to navigate through the exercise routine exercise. Your personal voice assistant will give guidance tips and announce the next exercise and number of reps. Our audio prompts are good for everyone, not just the visually impaired. Use them to provide motivation to get through the workout and keep moving forward.
You can also enable the voice-type microphone and use your voice to search our vast library of workouts. Find the perfect one for you, or use voice typing to edit and modify workouts.
Deaf
For the deaf, all of our workouts come with visual instructions. Each routine includes text descriptions and a trainer performing the exercise. In addition, we provide a visual countdown clock and the name of the next exercise. As a result, you can be ready and know how long your breaks are or how many seconds you need to hold that plank.
All our exercises and workouts also come with instructions in the library that you can read over before, or at any time during your workout. You can stop and check things, too. No judgment.
Participation Restrictions
Sworkit inclusivity recognizes disability pride. Our app works on any smartphone and can be used anywhere. This means that you don’t need to go to a gym if you don’t want to…for any reason. You can exercise in your own safe space, free from issues ranging from sensory overload to concerns about exposure to germs.
Our goal is to make health and fitness accessible to everyone, including people who can’t use a regular gym…or can’t drive to get to one. Exercise at home, in your yard, or in any other space that makes you feel safe and secure.
Intellectual and Psychological Disabilities
Sworkit isn’t just about your physical health. Disability pride also includes accounting for intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our collection of meditation and mindfulness exercises are designed to improve mood, but can also help you self-manage your personal mental and physical challenges, including those that result from intellectual disabilities, autism, or ADHD. We have exercises that are designed to alleviate anxiety, depression, and stress-related physiological symptoms.
Obviously, our collection is not intended to replace your counselor or provide treatment. However, they can provide tremendous benefits to help you cope with life.
