Meet Melissa. Melissa is a long time Sworkit member who loves Sworkit Challenges.

She uses Sworkit in addition to her Jazzercise classes so that when she’s not in class she is still exercising and maintaining her fitness habit. You may see Melissa in our Sworkit Community. She posts awesome recipes and daily workout motivation.

My name is Melissa. I live at the Jersey Shore. This one-time early educator has been a busy stay at home mom for the last 8 plus years. My daughter is 8 years old and keeps me on my toes. She is the reason I strive to be the best version of myself – spreading kindness, being helpful, staying active, and eating healthy. I am an avid reader. I love to dance and attend Jazzercise classes pretty regularly. I enjoy cooking and continually work on tweaking recipes to be family friendly and healthy. I try to stay up beat, but I have been struggling the last few years. I’ve had a few health issues that have slowed me down, but I keep plugging away. I won’t give up.

How do you create and maintain habits?

I’m a planner. I typically meal plan weekly. I have been a Weight Watchers (WW) member for over 10 years. That scale holds me accountable. I set reminders on my calendar for the days I plan to go to Jazzercise. I LOVE SworkIt challenges. They add just a little extra to my daily routines without it being overwhelming.

What do you love MOST about Sworkit?

It’s portable! I can take it anywhere. I live in a very small condo. Space is a serious issue. I do not need a lot of extra space or ANY equipment to use SworkIt.

What are 5 things you do to be as healthy as you can?

  • Meal Plan
  • Drink water
  • Exercise (but you have to do something you enjoy)
  • Sleep
  • Take time for yourself (spend 5 minutes meditating/praying, read a book, meet up with friends for coffee)

When in doubt, what inspires you to workout?

My daughter. She is a ball of energy and I have to be able to keep up with her.

Your favorite workout?

Without a doubt cardio dance (Jazzercise)

Who is your fitness inspiration?

The girls I do Jazzercise with. Each of us is a different body shape, ability level, and at a different point of our lives. We encourage each other when we are down. We celebrate each other when we achieve our goals. We never give up. We inspire each other to keep on keeping on.
